Hi! I'm Melissa Foster, a native of Birmingham, Alabama. I began dancing and teaching as a student of Curt and Wendy Johnson. Now I am a DVIDA® certified dance instructor/choreographer. For two years, I was a teacher at The Dance Studio of Tupelo, Mississippi. My face is familiar at many dance events in the region where I have won numerous awards and received recognition as a showcase dancer at events such as Dance Like The Stars, Dancing With The King, and Christmas In Dixie.

I'm a graduate of Faulkner University with a degree in Theater Performance. I enjoy using my expressions and talent to create a fun friendly atmosphere to teach my youth, teen, and adult students in both group classes and private lessons. The love of dance has allowed me to make new friends and express myself creatively. Sharing these dynamics with my students is my passion. In addition to my ballroom dance and line dance classes, I also teach a dance fitness program called REFIT® Revolution.

I love dance because it allows you to enter a whole different world where you can leave all your troubles behind and become immersed in the music and movement!

Lessons & Classes

Private lessons and group classes are available. Private lessons are $60 per 50 minute session and group classes are $5-10 per person (depending on the class). If this is your first time taking a private lesson from me, there is a Newcomer Package, where your first 2 lessons are $90! If you have a group of 10 or more people wanting to dance, a group class can be set up for you for $5 per person. For more details or to schedule a lesson email MelissaEtc@outlook.com.

Choreography

If you would like a choreographed routine, please email MelissaEtc@outlook.com so that details can be arranged. Please note that choreography takes more time to prepare and learn than social dance. Knowing that, please contact me as early as possible to allow plenty of time before your event.

Weddings

Learning a bit of ballroom dance before your big day is a great way to 1) feel comfortable moving on the dance floor, 2) learn how to work together with your future spouse, and 3) also impress your guests! Ballroom dance adds a little more refinement to your first dance than just standing there and doing what I call the "prom waddle".

Depending on the dance you want to learn, and the pace of your learning style, these factors will effect the amount of time needed to reach your desired goals. Each private lesson is tailored to you and your vision for your wedding day. To get started there is a special package exclusively for wedding couples: 6 lessons for $300!

The REFIT® Workout

A total-body workout that leaves you smiling.
